Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Cramahe Township Fire Department to provide the best possible fire and emergency services.  The goal of our department is to protect lives, prevent injury, save property and make a difference in our community.  We strive to meet these goals by providing information and education to all citizens.  We take great pride in the services we provide to the citizens of our community.

Fire Chief Brandon Northrup, CFO, CFEI, CMMIII

Cramahe Township Fire Department is an extraordinary organization providing the municipality with a versatile and educated group of firefighters dedicated to providing the best possible service to the community and its 6,000 residence. Working out of two strategic locations and operating nine specialized apparatus within 200 sq. km the firefighter’s versatility is essential for the unique hazards presented. The municipality is crisscrossed by three rail lines and the 401, which offers a challenging environment for its 35 member volunteer fire department.

Having members who can fluently speak five languages is a tangible asset when dealing with emergencies on the 401, something the department is called upon to do regularly. In addition, the team has a broad complement of skills from nearly a dozen trades; qualified sheet metal workers, an electrician, plumber, pipe fitters, hydro linemen,  roofer, stationery engineer, licensed radio operators, a fire alarm technician and three paramedics are among those on staff who can apply their expertise in an emergency.

The long-term safety of the community is well served, with department ages ranging from 20-57.  Recent hirings have added a batch of enthusiastic young members eager to join the team. As a first responder, a modern fire department faces complex challenges.  To remain effective, a department must change and grow. Built-in redundancy is vital in a small department.  The Cramahe Fire Department is structured so that critical roles can be carried out by more than one firefighter - crucial in a volunteer department when not everyone is available to answer the call.

"Diversity is the key to the future of the fire service" in the Township of Cramahe.
